There is then an instrumental part to my song at this point the camera cross dissolves to a wide POV shot of my main character plus my extras indulging in drugs and alcohol. For this part I changed the colour to black and white this is because it is showing past events in my characters life and also the fact that the issue of drugs is a dark subject. The mise-en scene includes my characters dressed in short, feminine outfits and also heavily made up this is as it links back to the hip-hop/R&B genre, I also used props such as icing sugar and water to create the look of cocaine and vodka. For this scene I deliberately hand held the camera and speeded the video footage up as I wanted the scene to look chaotic to the audience and also this camerawork shows my main characters state of mine by saying she is on a high and all over the place. The shot that is next vi sable on the screen is a medium close up of my main character running across a bridge, this is showing how she is trying to escape her problems in life, this then dissolves back to the party scene which shows all the girls dancing I wanted to do this as it links back to my genre. The camera then goes to an over the shoulder shot of my main character looking out across the bridge, during this scene you can see cars travelling which also acts as a code that she is jealous of other people going somewhere and that she wishes she was one of them this then does a straight cut to just a POV shot of the bridge and road without my character in the shot.
The camera then does a different variety of shots to show how the girls are partying, and close ups of the props such as wine, vodka and drugs which links to the lyrics 'If only you knew what was on my mind'. This shot then dissolves to a shot of a plaque that shows words such as 'Freedom', 'Escape', 'Signify'and 'message' which all tie in with the narrative and theme of my music video. The shot then cuts to a wide shot looking out to staten Island which a bird flies through the scene and links to the lyrics 'Then your soul will be set free and then you'll be released' also birds are a symbol of freedom and also in the background of the frame you can see the Statue of Liberty which is another big symbol for freedom. The chorus is then repeated again which starts off with my main character running down from the bridge, the shot has been done to look like she is running through sunlight, sunlight normally symbolises happiness and hope therefore the audience could get the idea that the story could go either way to happiness or unpleasantness, this then cuts to a wide shot of a plain preparing to go onto the runway this represents the ideology that she wants to get away and escape her past life, we then get a short repeat of the party scene which then cuts to a scene taken from inside a plane window looking out onto another plane this could feel to the audience like the girl is finally getting away however the rain on the window could be symbolizing tears and that she is still unhappy. I have then repeated the beginning part of my music video as the same part of the song is repeated so therefore we see a wide shot of my main character wandering around on Hessle Forshore. The camera again does an extreme close up onto my character however this time she has a more knowing look as if she has a plan and knows what to do with herself. The Chorus is repeated again however this time instead of the party scene we get an over the shoulder shot of my main character in the same room that the party scene was shot in cutting up 'cocaine' with a bottle of vodka to the left with a shot glass and pills nearby. The camera then PANS around the table so we can see my main character indulging on drugs and alcohol on her own, the camera does some close ups so the audience can see exactly what she is doing and as this is in colour it is seen as the present time. I got my main character to stare right into the camera screen to show that she is fearless and doesn't care about what she is doing. The camera then shows a POV shot of my main character collapsing. The camera then cuts to my main character walking through the graveyard at this point this could have the audience questioning if the girl was just indulging on her own or in fact taking an overdose to 'get as far away as she can go'. The camera then dissolves back and repeats the clip when she looks straight into the camera and collapses onto the table again, note that this clip has now been edited into black and white which represents that this is now a past event, black is also a symbolic colour of death. The footage of her walking through the graveyard is repeated again but this time in black and white, we then see a dip to white dissolve on the lyrics 'There's nothing worse then feeling like a ghost' and the screen is replaced with footage of the same graveyard however this time with the girl not in the frame and also in colour which shows that this is in present time, leaving the ending ambiguous to the audience as I feel it was more effective for the audience to come up with their own conclusions.
